Iron, out of the BlueBox circuit.

TAVILGironaDS-i65 · DN652025

DS-i65 fitted on TAVIL's BlueBox circuit
Iron · μg/L

Langelier index
+0,20 → 0,00Langelier index
Hardness · mg/L CaCO₃
80 → 79Hardness · mg/L CaCO₃
  1. Problem

The first check on the closed BlueBox circuit showed a high iron load: 1,148 μg/L, against under 50 μg/L in the make-up water. The Langelier index was +0.20, consistent with a slight scaling tendency.

  2. Action

Technical survey of the circuit and installation of a DS-i65 on DN65, 316L stainless steel body. Physical treatment: no cartridges, no consumables and no chemical dosing in the unit. Two analytical checks, on 27/02/2025 and 07/04/2025.

  3. Result

In 39 days iron falls from 1,148 μg/L to under 50 μg/L and the Langelier index returns to 0.00. Circuit hardness holds almost unchanged, from 80 to 79 mg/L CaCO₃: the water is not demineralised.

The milking robots, free of limescale.

Ganadería ItzibarZizurkil, GipuzkoaEF-i2024

EF-i anti-limescale unit fitted on the Itzibar dairy farm circuit
Daily intake per cow
100–120 LDaily intake per cow
  1. Problem

The farm was accumulating limescale in the milking water and in the system's cleaning water. The screen on the GEA robot arm fogged up and became covered in deposits.

  2. Action

An EF-i anti-limescale system was fitted on the farm's circuit.

  3. Result

Limescale residue fell and the screens and solenoid valves on the GEA robots stay clean. The cows behaved better at the drinker, with a steady intake of 100 to 120 litres a day.

The kitchen and the irrigation, on the same water.

Hotel B&B Colmar LibertéColmarEF-i50 + EF-i252023

Façade of the Hotel B&B Colmar Liberté
  1. Problem

A high-turnover hotel, with limescale in the kitchen water and in the automatic irrigation of the grounds.

  2. Action

In February 2023 an EF-i50 was fitted to treat the hotel's limescale, plus an EF-i25 dedicated to the automatic irrigation.

  3. Result

The team quickly noticed that kitchen equipment and utensils clean far more easily.

Flow rate
+30 %Flow rate
  1. Problem

The social housing association was suffering severe scaling: blocked taps, frequent water-heater breakdowns and damage to heat exchangers. Before the work, 3.7 l/min was measured at the kitchen tap and 4.8 l/min at the bathroom tap.

  2. Action

On 17 January 2025 an anti-limescale system was fitted on pipework already congested by limescale build-up. No building work and no pipe replacement.

  3. Result

At the measurement on 28 February 2025 the kitchen tap gave 5.1 l/min and the bathroom tap 7.0 l/min: around 30 % more flow, from the curative effect of the unit on the existing scale.

Months of side-by-side testing
10Months of side-by-side testing
  1. Problem

The aquarium's tanks, pumps, PVC pipework, chillers and filters were scaling up. Long cleaning sessions, equipment replaced several times a year and the use of hazardous chemicals.

  2. Action

In July an EF-i20 was fitted on tank DR1. A second tank running equivalently, DR2, was left untreated as a control. Every monthly filter clean was logged for ten months.

  3. Result

DR1's pipework cleaned off with a simple wipe; DR2's, heavily scaled, only gave way to acid. DR1's pump showed almost no limescale inside or out; DR2's was completely covered.

Three heat exchangers in a few years. Then none.

Vivienda particularGardEF-i20 · DN202019

Tap aerator with the limescale already loosened after installation
Days to the first result
21Days to the first result
  1. Problem

The gas boiler's plate heat exchanger had been replaced three times in a few years. The shower tap had to be stripped and descaled after six months' use, and the aerators were being cleaned every week.

  2. Action

An EF-i20 anti-limescale unit was fitted on DN20, in 2019.

  3. Result

After 21 days (13 of them in actual use) the aerators were free of limescale, flow had improved and the chlorine smell had gone. In 2021, the unit fitted in 2019 was still fully effective.

Results relate to the installations and samples described in each case. The TAVIL report is based on analyses W00926360-0, W00926361-0 and W00554062-0, issued on 05/05/2025 by an independent laboratory. The remaining cases collect results reported by clients and installers.
